A lot of diagnostic and therapeutic measures are done in the section. About 5000 gastroscope is done every year both diagnostic and therapeutic. Most diagnostic gastroscopy are done looking for pathology according to the indication.

Therapeutic measures include:

• Injection therapy for bleeding esophageal varices or any other bleeding resions like ulcer.
• Polypectomy.
• Band ligation of esophageal varices.
• Balloon dilation for achalasia or esophageal stricture.
• Heat probe for bleeding.
